Advantages (Pros)
Minimal Downtime: This is the most significant advantage. Most patients can return to their normal daily activities (like work or going to dinner) the very same day or the next.
No Scar on the Breast: The hidden armpit scar is a key benefit for patients who are concerned about visible scarring.
Less Pain: Patients report significantly less pain compared to traditional breast augmentation due to the tissue-preserving technique.
Preserved Sensation: The risk of changes to nipple or breast sensation is minimized because the technique avoids cutting nerves and breast tissue.
Natural Look and Feel: The implants and placement provide a subtle, proportional enhancement that moves and feels natural.
Reversible: The procedure is designed to be fully reversible, with implants able to be removed through the same armpit incision.
Considerations (Cons & Limitations)
Limited Size Increase: Mia® is only suitable for women who desire a subtle increase of 1 to 2 cup sizes. It is not an option for those seeking a dramatic change in volume.
Not a Breast Lift: This procedure does not correct significant sagging (ptosis). A separate breast lift (mastopexy) would be required for that.
Standard Surgical Risks: As with any procedure, it carries risks, though they are reduced. These include infection, bleeding, capsular contracture, implant rupture or rotation, and changes in sensation.
Newer Technology: As a more recent innovation, long-term (20+ year) data is more limited compared to traditional augmentation, and there may be unknown risks.
